What you need to know before flying to the Dominican Republic

• The national currency of the Dominican Republic is the Dominican peso, denoted by DOP or RD. Unfavorable exchange rate for pesos - at the airport and hotels. If you are going to change money for local currency, it is better to do it in banks or Western Union and Caribe Express exchange offices. Take your passport with you. You will only need a peso if you are planning independent travel outside the tourist area. We do not recommend taking euros with you, Dominicans often consider euros at the dollar rate, which is unprofitable. It makes no sense to bring dollars or euro coins to the Dominican Republic, they are not accepted for payment.

• Apple Pay only works in large supermarkets, and you can pay with a card in many places, but not everywhere. Dollars are accepted in hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops in resort areas, and you will often see prices in this currency. Therefore, the most optimal thing is to go on vacation to the Dominican Republic with cash dollars. We advise you to have small denomination banknotes so as not to wait for change. You can pay for excursions in our company in cash and via Internet banking or PayPal, Zelle, VenMo, on some routes we accept payment by card with a bank commission. Money from the card will be debited in Dominican pesos, taking into account the conversion at the rate of your bank. Local payment systems add from 3 to 18% commission, regardless of the type of your card.

It is better to fill out the form 72 hours before departure to the Dominican Republic, so as not to waste time upon arrival. If you do not have time to do it in advance, fill it out at the airport using WiFi. To leave the country you need a new QR code.

Most medicines in the Dominican Republic are higher in cost than in the another countries.

• Don't forget sunscreens. We recommend using sunscreens with a protection factor of 50 and above. Cancellation of excursions, vacations spent in the room, and sometimes a doctor's call - all these are the results of a frivolous attitude to the Caribbean sun. Sunscreens with a high protection factor are available in shops in hotel.

In hotels, in a la carte restaurants, there is a dress code for men - closed shoulders and legs. Suitable T-shirts, short sleeve shirts, jeans or light trousers. There is no strict dress code for women.
